Valmet's Industrial Internet solution collects critical measurement data involving gas transportation containers, improving safety in the transport of explosive cargo like methane or hydrogen. In addition to saving costs, the solution provides information about container contents for logistics, and complements the Valmet DNA Integrated Operations data collection application. The patent-pending solution has been developed in cooperation with Yepzon, a technology company that provides location devices and services.
“During transportation and in temporary storage, the containers are on their own, leading to a lack of material data due to inadequate monitoring. With this innovative solution, it is possible to monitor the containers and their pressure data as well as the amount of gas and energy without any pressure or level measurement instruments. Experience gained from trials in Finland and other Nordic countries with the new solutions have been positive,” says Jani Hautaluoma, Senior Business Manager, Process Automation, Valmet.
Valmet’s Industrial Internet solution can monitor gas transportation containers and their pressure data, as well as the amount of gas and energy, without pressure or level-measurement instruments, collecting measurement data from the loading processes of the gas transportation containers and their places of use. Additionally, it collects location and temperature data from an ATEX-certified device in the gas transportation container, collecting and calculating data to determine accurate and comparable measurement information. Additionally, advanced user management makes it possible to efficiently share situational data on customer request.
