An expanded-beam connector is well-suited for use in the outdoor broadcast industry, as well as other rugged and harsh environments.

The expanded-beam fiber-optic connector from Cinch is a cost-effective, high-performance, and reliable optical link solution for use in the outdoor broadcast industry, as well as other rugged and harsh environments. The expanded beam connector series is also available in hybrid versions that combines electrical and optical technology for SMPTE cable-specific applications.

Although it can be used in some military applications, it's designed to specifically target the outdoor broadcast market. The expanded beam connector series is also available in a hybrid version, combining electrical and optical technology to target SMPTE cable-specific programs. 

Termination uses an epoxy-polish ferrule termination process with standard fiber-optic termination tools and equipment, with the ferrules inserted into the expanded beam housing and fixed in place via a spring and cover-plate.
