Significantly smaller and thinner than the company's previous offerings, the S10170 RGB color sensor, fashioned for use in RGB-LCD backlight monitors, comes in a surface-mount plastic package measuring 3 mm x 1.6 mm x 1 mm. Total active area is 1 mm x 1 mm. The sensor includes three photodiodes, which are sensitive to separate regions of the spectrum. Red sensitivity is from 590 nm upwards while green sensitivity ranges from 480 nm to 600 nm and blue sensitivity ranges from 400 nm to 540 nm.
