Using auto-focus principles with a resolution as fine as 4 nanometers, at speeds up to 250 kHz, the Laser Nano Sensor (LNS) is suited for use in small work envelopes, such as for quantifying surface roughness of glass and other highly reflective materials, for micro-positioning polished components such as silicon wafers and lenses, and for making thickness measurements. The LNS consists of a sending/receiving unit and a box that provides power, analog output and all the electronics. Available in four standard models, the sensor has a measuring range from 0.000018" to 0.0059", spot size ranging from 1 to 6 microns, and operating distances ranging from 0.09" to 1.1". Depending on the target, accuracy ranges from 0.022 to 0.75 nanometers. The sensor operates at temperatures from 32°F to 120°F, comes with a cable length of 8.25', and require a ±10 Vdc power source.
