Digital Current Sensor/Voltage Monitor Uses Simultaneous Sampling
The LMP92064 digital current sensor and voltage monitor with simultaneous sampling, an industry first, integrates a precision current sense amplifier and two 12-bit ADC channels that simultaneously capture voltage and current data, while an SPI interface transfers real-time data at up to 20 MHz. The device is intended for applications where precise power monitoring is crucial, such as communications infrastructure applications, including telecom, servers and central office equipment. The combination of simultaneous sampling, maximum input offset voltage of +/-15 uV, and maximum gain error of less than +/-0.75% delivers unparalleled accuracy. A 125 ksps conversion rate is purportedly 19x faster than the competition, allowing designers to measure power fluctuations more accurately, and unidirectional input and output lines enable easy interfacing to isolation devices. The LMP92064 digital current sensor and voltage monitor is available now in a 16-pin, 5 x 4 mm WSON package for a price of $1.99 each/1,000. An evaluation module, the LMP92064EVM, demonstrates the functionality of the current shunt monitor, and includes a USB interface and software.
