Hey gang, let’s get small! Addressing the never-ending push to make all things microscopic, Microfabrica offers a series of educational webinars to help designers master manufacturing challenges in the drive to miniaturization. Set for August 22, 2012 at 2:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time (EDT), the first webinar is dubbed "When State-Of-The-Art Micromachining Isn't Good Enough" and will provide a review of existing state-of-the-art technologies.

Micro-miniature gears outfit numerous apps, robotics a specialty.

This premier offering will also explore how Microfabrica’s MICA Freeform extends the capabilities of conventional micromachining for fabricating precision metal parts at the sub-millimeter scale.  According to the company, MICA Freeform is a proprietary additive manufacturing process that enables the design of parts with complex geometries at sub-millimeter scale. 

To repair a “broken heart”, these tiny surgical robots are used for binding two pieces of heart muscle together.

Other topics for discussion include current obstacles design engineers face in the great miniaturization push, how MICA Freeform allows fabrication of complex features at a sub-millimeter scale while retaining high precision, and ideal design applications for the MICA Freeform process. Presentations and discussions will be led by Richard Chen, Vice President of Design Engineering at Microfabrica
