Said to be the first of its breed, high-power rare earth micro-motors have been coupled with high-resolution magnetic encoders in a tiny, rugged package measuring from 15 to 22 mm in diameter and 16 to 24 mm in length. The encoders are available in resolutions of 16, 64, 128, 256 and 512 counts/rev. and add only 2.4 mm to the motor's length. The motor+encoder units are compatible with 11 series of metal encased or less-costly plastic gearheads with ratios from 3.1:1 to 983,447:1. Zero backlash gearheads and plug-and-play motion control modules are also available for this series of servo packages. Available for operation with 6 to 24 vdc supplies, R Series motors' neodymium magnet systems and ironless coils combine to deliver up to 4W of power with mechanical time constants as low as 10 ms. Capable of speeds of up to 13,000 rpm, the motors can also be ordered with sintered, ball bearing, or preloaded ball bearing systems. And special versions of the motor can withstand temperatures ranging from -55°C to 125°C.
