The company's NEMA Size 8 hybrid stepper motors in sub-miniature, RoHS-compliant packages are said to deliver high torque levels that make them a viable alternative to servomotors in many applications. Measuring 20-mm square by as little as 30-mm long, reportedly makes them one of the smallest stepper motors available that will execute 1.8° steps. Other features include a two-phase design with four-lead bipolar configuration, fast acceleration with low audible noise, and a high torque-to-inertia ratio. The motors are available in stack lengths of 30 mm, 33 mm, and 42 mm and, depending on the stack length, they can produce maximum holding torques (bipolar) ranging from 17.7 to 29.5 mNm (2.5 to 4.2 oz.-in.). Depending on stack sizes, prices range from $30 to $39 each/100. NIPPON PULSE AMERICA INC., Radford, VA. (540) 633-1677.
