Designed to enhance the performance of embedded control applications, the V850E/IA2 ASSP microcontroller is the newest addition to the company's RISC-based V850 32-bit MCU product line. Based on the V850 CPU core, the device combines CPU, ROM and RAM with powerful peripherals to meet the requirements of industrial and consumer applications. The chip is available with a variety of integrated flash/ROM/RAM options and delivers embedded performance of up to 50 MIPS. The V850 family of CPUs offers easy pipeline handling and programming, resulting in compact code size comparable with standard 16-bit CPUs. The microcontroller features on-chip peripheral functions for two-system motor driving by means of inverter control, such as high-capacity ROM and RAM, two channels of three-phase sine-wave PWM timers, channel up/down counters for two-phase encoder input, and two separate eight- and six-channel a/d converter units. It also contains three serial interfaces which are suited for systems that require communications among several peripheral units and devices. Housed in a 100-pin LQFP, the 32-bit RISC device is priced at $18 each/10,000.
