Covering two bases, the company’s AdvancedTCA Zone 1 power connector supports applications specified by PICMG 3.x, while its CompactPCI power connector addresses platforms employing Eurocard form factors per PICMG 2.11. The ATCA power connector consists of eight size-16 contacts and 22 size-22 contacts. It uses gold-over-nickel plating at the contact interface and tin or gold plating on the PCB terminals. The insulation body provides a guiding feature and the contact terminals include compliant press-fit zones. Other features include dual 48-Vdc distribution feeds, power handling up to 16A per power pin, four level sequential pins for hot swapping, and support for full-mesh and dual-star configurations. The CompactPCI power connector is offered in 47-pin and 38-pin versions, each with three sequential-mating ac-power contacts for hot-swapping. Standard pin headers and female sockets are available with 30 micro inches of gold plating, which complies with the PICMG specification requirement of 250 mating cycles. For applications that do not require this level of durability, connectors with 10 micro-inch gold plating are available. YAMAICHI ELECTRONICS USA, San Jose, CA. (408) 715-9100.
