Claiming a first, the HX5 series Gigabit, discrete magnetic components specify an extended operating temperature range of ?40°C to +85°C in compliance with the IEEE 802.3i/u/ab Ethernet standard. One component in the series, the 27.94 mm x 10.92 mm HX5020, is said to have the smallest footprint of any comparable component currently on the market. The HX5008 fits behind a 1x1 RJ45 connector while the HX5012, HX5014, and HX5020 target dual-port, packet-switch applications. In addition to IEEE 802.3ab compliance, the series also meets IEEE 802.3u, IEEE 802.3i, and ANSI X3.263 standards. Prices average $3.80 per port each/10,000. PULSE, San Diego, CA. (858) 674-8100.
