A new printed-circuit-mount transformer has been developed for ac-to-dc converter applications. The SPP-3003 is designed to be used in conjunction with the TNY254 Tiny Switch integrated off-line switching power supply chip from Power Integrations Inc. Typical applications include converters with inputs of 85 to 265 Vac and two dc outputs ranging from 3.3 to 5.5 Vdc or one dc output ranging from 6.0 to 12.0 Vdc at a maximum power of 4.0W. The SPP-3003 meets creepage and clearance distance minimums of the IEC 950/EN60950 standard for reinforced insulation at rated working voltages on the input up to 250 Vrms. The dielectric strength is rated at 4,000 Vrms, and the bobbin material is classified UL 94V-0. Dimensions of the transformer are 18.20 mm L x 16.0 mm W x 17.70 mm H. Pricing is $1.02 each in production volumes. PREM MAGNETICS INC., McHenry, IL. (815) 385-2700.
