A new chip bead inductor is claimed as the first device on the market to provide both high impedance and high current operation for superior noise suppression at frequencies up to 3 GHz. The high current ratings and small form factor of the HL series make it suitable for use in ultra-portable designs and other applications requiring high component density. Surface-mountable, the inductors come in an EIA 0603 case size measuring 1.6 mm x 0.8 mm x 0.8 mm and provide impedance values from 110? to 1,900? at 1 GHz typical, depending on part number. At that frequency, the 110? part, FBMH1608HL300-T, has a maximum current rating of 2.5A, while the 1,900? part, FBMH1608HL601-T, has a 0.4A rating. The 110? part provides a maximum RDC value of 0.028?, while the 1,900? part has a 0.450? rating. Pricing is $0.05 each. TAIYO YUDEN (U.S.A.) INC., Schaumburg, IL. (847) 925-0888.
