Groomed for ATSC and NTSC applications, the MAX3540 single-conversion television tuner meets the sensitivity and adjacent-channel guidelines set by ATSC Recommended Practice A/74. Consuming 760 mW in operation, the tuner integrates a tracking filter and high-linearity front end. It reduces power consumption by eliminating the second frequency conversion common to other silicon tuners. As it is a single-conversion tuner, the device requires just a single SAW filter. Operating over a frequency range from 54 MHz to 860 MHz frequency range, it provides a standard, 44-MHz IF output that is compatible with almost all existing ATSC and NTSC demodulators. The device operates from a 3.3V supply and over a temperature range from 0° to +85°C. Available in a 48-pin, 7 mm x 7 mm flip-chip package, price starts at $5.90 each/1,000.
