The T8051XC3 Tiny 8051 IP Core from CAST integrates an 8-bit, MCS 51-compatible processor populated with an assortment of common peripherals, including a serial communications controller, flexible timer-counter, multipurpose I/O port, and an interrupt controller. It uses about the same silicon area and provides similar peripherals as other small 8051s currently on the market. However, according to the company, the Tiny 8051 offers 60% better performance and double the development-system options. With all of the peripherals, the MCU occupies 180 nm. When used with IAR Embedded Workbench, it delivers 0.1236 DMIPS/MHz for 13.15 times the speed of the original C8051. Developers can also use ARM Keil μVision C51 or IAR Embedded Workbench for 8051.
