Targeting compact audio systems, the MAX9867 stereo audio codec integrates features such as digital microphone support and programmable digital filters. It offers a complete record path with stereo differential microphone inputs and stereo single-ended line inputs as well as support for traditional analog microphones. The device’s programmable digital filters provide a simple method to eliminate system noise such as the GSM packet frequency (217 Hz). They also allow custom noise-cancellation schemes for better isolation of vocal frequencies. Additionally, the headphone amplifier incorporates comprehensive click-and-pop circuitry. Other features include a power consumption of 6.7 mW during stereo playback, 1.8V single-supply operation, and space-efficient, 2.2 mm x 2.7 mm x 0.4 mm 30-bump WLP and 5 mm x 5 mm, 32-pin TQFN packages. Prices start at $0.95 each/10,000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
