The shift from analog to digital speakers by business and consumer product makers is expected to be given a considerable boost with the recent development of a four-chip set. With the chipset, OEMs reportedly can create complete digital speaker systems that impart the interactivity and clearer sound presently not available with analog speakers used in PCs, communications headsets, audio conferencing systems, and other electronic products. The sets four devices include: the TUSB3200 streaming controller that streams audio to and from the universal serial bus (USB); TAS3001 32-bit digital audio processor that performs speaker equalization and dynamic range compression with volume, bass and treble; TLC320AD81 digital audio processor with an integrated D/A converter; and TLC320AD77 high-resolution audio codec. The USB3200 comes in a 52-pin TQFP package; the TAS3001 resides in a 28-pin TSSOP; the TLC320AD81 is housed in a 38-pin TSSOP; and the TLC320AD77, a 28-pin SSOP.
