Replacing multiple VCXOs and PLLs, the LMH1983 generates all necessary audio/video reference clocks for a broad range of applications. It replaces three external PLLs, VCXOs, and loop filters while generating four simultaneous LVDS clocks with dedicated top-of-frame timing pulses. In addition to eliminating the need for external clock conditioning, the device claims to exhibit the industry’s lowest-output jitter at 40 ps peak-to-peak. For video processing and format converter cards, the LMH1983 simultaneously provides SMPTE 424M system clocks at 148.5 MHz and 148.5/1.001 MHz for the latest generation of FPGAs. Available in a 40-pin LLP, price is $16 each/1,000. NATIONAL SEMICONDUCTOR CORP., Santa Clara, CA. (800) 272-9959.
