6U OpenVPX GPGPU multiprocessor brings key benefits to defense prime contractors and systems integrators.

The IPN251 6U OpenVPX GPGPU multiprocessor from GE brings key benefits to defense prime contractors and systems integrators: within a constrained SWaP envelope, GPGPU technology allows larger numbers of more sophisticated algorithms to be processed in a single chassis slot; more processing takes place on vehicle; and by using open, industry hardware and software standards, the multiprocessor allows development time to be significantly reduced. Combining the latest 384-core NVIDIA Kepler GPGPU technology with a third generation Intel Core i7 quad core processor, the multiprocessor offers computing performance in a range of data-intensive applications, particularly ISR (intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance). On-board and backplane communication is maximized by the use of PCI Express Gen 3 components, including the dual-channel Mellanox ConnectX-3 10 Gigabit Ethernet/InfiniBand network interface card. Capable of being deployed in the harshest environments, the IPN251 is designed to fit into the company’s HPEC solution set, which includes the SBC625 3rd Generation Intel Core i7 SBC, the GBX460 10 Gigabit Ethernet switch, the DSP280 dual quad-core multiprocessor, I/Os, AXIS multiprocessing software, development chassis and a rugged deployable chassis.
