A miniaturized driver IC developed by Toshiba controls three-phase dc brushless motors in electric fan applications. The TB6585AFTG’s integrated PWM controller circuit generates a sine wave, which leads to a quiet, high-efficiency motor drive. Its small, leadless, heat-dissipating QFN48 package (7 by 7 by 0.9 mm) achieves the same absolute maximum ratings for voltage and current (45 V/1.8 A) as other Toshiba products in larger packages. An undervoltage lockout circuit and thermal shutdown circuit are included. The TB6585AFTG will suit ventilation fans and home-appliance fans that require quiet operation and low energy consumption.
