Monolithic 8 Gb DDR3 SDRAM Drives High-Density Memory Systems

July 14, 2014
8 Gb DDR3 SDRAM component enables lower cost, high-capacity solutions optimized to support large-scale, data-intensive workloads for the enterprise market.

Micron is touting the industry’s first monolithic 8 Gb DDR3 SDRAM component based on their latest-generation 25 nm DRAM manufacturing process. The addition of an 8 Gb monolithic component enables lower cost, high-capacity solutions optimized to support large-scale, data-intensive workloads for the enterprise market. Applications based on enterprise in-memory data analytics, search and social networking will benefit from this new addition to the established DDR3 ecosystem. Expanding the memory footprint, these 8 Gb-based solutions, such as the mainstream 32 GB RDIMM, enable long-term, economical, richly configured systems to meet the performance needs of hyperscale data centers requiring efficient, high performance server systems. Available now, Micron’s DDR3 portfolio includes 8 Gb single-die and dual-die components, 32 GB RDIMMs (dual rank), 64 GB LRDIMMs, 32 GB ECC SODIMMs and 16 GB VLP ECC UDIMMs.
