Claimed as the industryÕs first high-performance, low-power combination memory device, the SST34HF1681 ComboMemory integrates 16 Mb of dual-bank flash memory with 8 Mb SRAM in a single, space-saving BGA package. With the new device, designers of low-cost portable applications reportedly recive the optimum amount of SRAM needed without incurring the costs of additional flash memory. The SST34- HF1681 is said to be ideal for feature-rich, cost-sensitive portable devices, such as cellular phones, wireless data modules, PDA add-in cards/modules, handheld PCs, GPS receivers and wireless LAN cards. The ComboMemory offers fast programming and erase speeds of 14 µs per word for programming, 18 ms for sector/block erase, and 70 ms for chip erase. It features a low power consumption of 25 mA in active mode and just 20 µA in standby. Pricing is $11. 95 each/10,000 in a 56-ball LFBGA package. SILICON STORAGE TECHNOLOGY INC., Sunnyvale, CA.
