Powerful Voice Processor Eyes Packetized Network Mart
Claiming to be the industry's highest density voice processor for carrier-class packetized networks, the VX-SP1000 employs a unique digital signal processing architecture that is said to offer up to 12 times the channel density of general-purpose DSP-based alternatives commonly used in VoIP applications. The device can process up to 240 G.711 un-compressed channels or 120 G.729A compressed channels, with each channel including 64-ms tail-length echo cancellation and key telephony functionality, such as comfort-noise generation, voice-activity detection, and DTMF tone detection and generation.
The voice processor integrates all hardware, software and firmware requirements in a single package and is based on a fully programmable and scalable architecture that is said to be easily configured to meet evolving communications standards and software upgrades in the field. The chip packs 8 MB of memory, 512 full-duplex independent TDM channels, a 32-bit expansion bus interface, and JTAG/EJTAG test ports. And it accepts voltage inputs of 1.8V for the core and 3.3V for I/O processing.
Available in a 17 mm x 17 mm, 256-pin plastic BGA package, the chip costs $650 each/1,000.
