Logging in as the industry’s first 10 Gigabit Ethernet serial transceiver supporting the IEEE 10GBASE-KR standard for running 10-Gb/s serial data over backplane systems, the BCM8071 serial 10GBASE-KR to XAUI backplane transceiver employs a sophisticated receive equalizer that extends the life of legacy systems running at 1 Gb/s or XAUI data rates. Designed with a 90-nm CMOS process, the device features an all DSP-based 10-GbE transceiver that allows existing infrastructure to run higher bandwidth applications. The BCM8071’s equalizer provides 4x or 10x bandwidth improvements and an on-chip microcontroller provides flexibility and ease of use by automatically adjusting the equalizer parameters based on the performance of each backplane channel. Available in a 13 mm x 13 mm, RoHS-compliant FBGA package, pricing is available upon request. BROADCOM CORP., Irvine, CA. (949) 926-5000.
