Two additions to the TDS6000 family of digital storage oscilloscopes (DSOs) include the 12-GHz TDS6124C and, debuting as the industry’s fastest, the 15-GHz TDS6154C. Also rounding out the family is the P7313 Z-Active low-loading probe. The 15-GHz TDS6154C claims to be the only oscilloscope able to capture the fifth harmonic of the highest frequency pattern for next-generation serial standards such as 5 to 6.25 Gb/s second-generation PCI-Express, 6 Gb/s SATA III, and 6.25 Gb/s double XAUI. It is also boasts of being the only oscilloscope able to capture the third harmonic of a 10 Gb/s signal. Additionally, it is able to measure rise/fall times of 30 ps typical with an accuracy within 5%. The TDS6124C provides a true-analog, 12-GHz bandwidth and user-selectable DSP for channel-to-channel and unit-to-unit matching plus a bandwidth extension to 15 GHz. Both scopes sample at 40 Gsamples/s on two channels simultaneously. Features of the P7313 probe include a rise time of 25 ps, high dc impedance, flat frequency response, and low loading.
