Expanding its FastChip CSoC development system's soft module software library, this high-level data link control (HDLC) core is targeted for use in communication products—HDLC is an ISO communications protocol used in various data networking applications, such as xDSL, SONET, switches and edge routers. Users reportedly can integrate the core in seconds via drag-and-drop within the FastChip software. The core is parameterizable, allowing specification of the core via a graphical user interface for the implementation of features such as CRC, overflow/underflow, and zero insertion. Example designs demonstrating integration of the core with either a FIFO or a DMA interface are available.
