Frequency Domain Rad Hard DSP Set To Ride With GIFTS
The RHDSP24 frequency domain DSP is designed into the Honeywell Radiation Hardened Vector Processor, scheduled to launch in 2005 as part of NASA’s Geosynchronous Imaging Fourier Transform Spectrometer (GIFTS). The RHDSP24 is manufactured using a 0.35 µm, silicon-on-insulator (SOI) V rad-hard, four-layer metal process technology. With reduced software overhead, the device performs DSP tasks such as frequency domain digital filtering with less than a dozen machine instructions and can continuously perform a 1,024-point FFT in 16.5 µs. Commercial versions for prototyping are available from stock while rad-hard versions are available in two to three weeks, depending on specifications and other requirements. In a 472-pin column grid array, price ranges from $500 to $1,500 each, depending on quantity, performance and temperature grade. A complete set of hardware and software design tools is also available. DSP ARCHITECTURES, Vancouver, WA. (360) 573-4084.
