Designed to reduce power consumption in consumer electronics and toys, the MPC17500 family includes nine motor controller ICs with single, dual, or quad H-bridges. When paired with a microcontroller, they can manage up to four motors. Members include the MPC17550 and MPC17559 four-channel drivers, MPC17529, MPC17530, MPC17531 and MPC17533 two-channel drivers, MPC17517 1.5-channel driver, and MPC17510 and MPC17511 one-channel drivers. Each device is made using a proprietary SMARTMOS process, said to combine high-density, high-speed logic with precision analog control and efficient power circuitry to enable low on-resistance. Prices range from $0.51 to $1.64 each/10,000. MOTOROLA INC., Phoenix, AZ. (800) 521-6274.
