Atmel Integrates 8-Bit MCU And LIN System In One Module
Hitting new heights of integration, the ATA6602 and ATA6603 multichip modules combine an 8-bit AVR microcontroller with a LIN system basis chip containing a LIN transceiver, voltage regulator, and watchdog within a single package without internal connections. The ATA6602 integrates an automotive-qualified ATmega88 AVR flash MCU with 8 KB of flash memory, while the ATA6603 incorporates the automotive-qualified ATmega168 with 16 KB of flash. Due to its silent mode, the LIN chip specifies a power consumption of 40 µA with the voltage regulator activated. It also provides immunity against ESD/EMC, various protection functions, and an input/output voltage range from –40V to 60V for the LIN-bus pin. In addition, a LIN-software library for GCC and IAR C compiler are available at no charge. Prices for the ATA6602 and ATA6603 are $1.87 and $1.99 each/10,000, respectively. ATMEL CORP., San Jose, CA.
