Application-Oriented MCUs Offer Powerful Processing And Advanced Interconnection
FTDI has launched two application-oriented controller (AOC) MCU families, joining the company’s established 16-bit micro offering, Vinculum II. Both families employ an extensive selection of I/O options and incorporate powerful, efficient core processing architectures.
The 8-bit FT51 addresses control system deployments. Its core has been tuned to achieve 48 MIPS processing capacity and its USB Hub function enables subsystems to be cascaded, while a comprehensive cadre of analogue-to-digital and digital-to-analogue converters facilitates sensor interfacing.
The 32-bit FT900 suits high-performance systems such as video imaging, multimedia, and other demanding, cost-sensitive activities involving large amounts of data. By executing instructions from shadow RAM, rather than flash memory, it can operate at true zero wait states up to 100-MHz and 293DMIPS performance. It has a built-in camera interface for attachment to CMOS imaging modules with VGA resolution.
