SerDes Devices Resolve EMI And Interface Issues

March 4, 2004
Designed to solve EMI and cable size problems associated with wide, high-speed TTL interfaces, the FIN1215 and FIN1217 serializers convert parallel LVTTL to serial LVDS and the FIN1216, FIN1218 deserializers convert serial LVDS back to parallel LVTTL.

The devices provide 21:3 bit compression that allows for fewer traces and connectors, lower cable counts, and less board space. In terms of bandwidth, the FIN1217 and FIN1218 operate at speeds in excess of 1.75 Gb/s. Each device operates over an industrial temperature range from –40° to 80°C and they are available in 48-lead TSSOP packaging in rail or on tape-and-reel. The FIN1215 and FIN1216 are priced at $2 each and the FIN1217 and FIN1218 cost $2.75 each/1,000. FAIRCHILD SEMICONDUCTOR, South Portland, ME. (800) 341-0392.
