Using the latest-generation topologies, six additions to the ZY2000 “no-bus” and ZY8000 bus-programmable digital point-of-load converters offer efficiencies up to 94% while providing 5 to 40 A for server and communications applications.

Using the latest-generation topologies, six additions to the ZY2000 “no-bus” and ZY8000 bus-programmable digital point-of-load converters offer efficiencies up to 94% while providing 5 to 40 A for server and communications applications. The Z-One Digital POLs augment the high-current-density models introduced earlier this year. The new devices seamlessly integrate power management and conversion to significantly reduce board-level parts count, improve power system performance, and enhance power-management functions. The converters have a wide, 8- to 14-V input range and user-defined outputs of 0.5 to 5.5 V, reducing the number of models required in inventory. Their scalable architecture manages up to 32 components, including up to four analog devices. Operating temperature range is 0 to 70°C. The ZY2000 models are hardware-configured using pin strapping and trim components. The ZY8000 versions can be programmed via an industry-standard I2C bus or a wizard-driven GUI. The POL converters start at $7.00 for the 5-A models and $16.00 for the 40-A models, both for 1000-piece quantities. POWER-ONE INC., Camarillo, CA. (805) 987-8741.
