A miniature, PMC series five-phase hybrid stepping motor system is available with a board-level driver and a miniature harmonic drive, with the precision motion system boasting of enhanced torque performance and superior position accuracy. Basic step angle performance reaches 0.0072° for a 100-to-1 ratio. The geared stepping motor package also features zero backlash harmonic gearheads in gear ratios of 50-to-1 and 100-to-1. One version, the PMC33A1-HG50, measures 1.1" square by 2.74" long and produces 160 oz.-in. of torque at 25 rpm using the thin driver with a 24 vdc and 0.35A per phase electrical input. The PMC33A1-HG100, in contrast, generates 284 oz.-in. at 30 rpm with the driver and by applying an electrical input of 36 vdc and 0.35A per phase. To adjust the stepping motor’s phase current to desired levels, the miniature thin driver uses a small "on board" potentiometer. ORIENTAL MOTOR USA CORP., Torrance, CA. (800) 406-7484.
