New colors have been added to the AND Optoelectronics family of LEDs. Designed for ultra-bright light emission, the high-performance AND520 series comes in blue, green, and white in a 5 mm (T1-3/4) package. Suitable for outdoor message signboards as well as for indicator lights, the LEDs have a luminous intensity ranging from 1400 to 5000 mcd. Fast response times make them capable of pulse operation, too. Said to exhibit an excellent on-off contrast ratio, the devices require a drive current of only 1 to 20 mA dc. Members of the AND520 series include the HB blue, HG super green, and HW white LEDs. All are constructed with GaN technology. Other applications suggested for the devices are as indicators in computers, peripherals, instrumentation and automotive apparatus. Available from stock, the LEDs are priced from $1.44 each in production quantities.
