Enlisting for service in dense-board telecom and CPE applications, the RoHS-compliant Teccor Q2L series SIDACtor assumes market position as the smallest protection thyristor to date. In a chip-scale package with a mounting height of 1 mm, the device promises a reduction in PCB real estate requirements by as much as 54%. According to the company, although the package size of the Q2L series has been significantly reduced from the DO-214AA packages associated with previous SIDACtor devices, users can expect the same performance levels as the larger components. The thyristor provides bi-directional transient voltage protection and offers a range of Ipp ratings including 75A for a 5 x 310/10 x 700 µs event (ITU/YDT waveform), 80A for a 10 x 1,000 μs event (GR 1089 waveform), and up to 100A for a 10 x 560 μs event (TIA-968).
