Squired as the first in a family of devices employing a unique architecture, the PXA168 application processor delivers the processing capabilities of an entry-level laptop to instant- on, digital consumer devices by enabling web surfing, Internet widgets, multi-format video, Adobe Flash-based content playback, image processing, video conferencing, and advanced graphical user interfaces, reportedly at consumer price points with ultra-low power. Exploiting the company’s Sheeva technology, the processor is scalable beyond 1 GHz to enable converged products. Target designs include connected digital photo frames, portable navigation devices, media players, automotive dashboard displays and infotainment systems, home automation, portable TVs, and digital signage. The device supports high-definition video with hardware graphics acceleration on screens up to widescreen ultra extended graphics array resolution and also includes Qdeo color intelligent color remapping technology to enable vivid color without hue shifts or clipping. Other features include northbridge and southbridge interfaces and a reference platform that supports Linux and Windows CE.
