The D368 driver combines an electroluminescent (EL) lamp driver for backlighting monochrome displays and keypads with a high-brightness light emitting diode (HBLED) driver to backlight color displays. The driver is said to simplify and accelerate implementation of designs and to save board space in a myriad of handheld devices. Input voltage ranges from 2.5V to 6.5V with a power consumption of 10 nA in standby mode. The EL driver generates an output up to 180 Vp-p and employs the company's programmable wave-shaping technology for low-noise lamp performance. For LED driving, the device provides constant current for up to six white or blue LEDs in series. Additionally, both the EL and LED driver outputs are independently addressable and the driver has separately adjustable boost and lamp frequencies that are compatible with external clock functions. The backlight driver comes in a leadless PLLP-16 package. Samples available from stock. DUREL CORP., Chandler, AZ. (480) 917-6000.
