The ATA6831 driver delivers enhanced PWM performance with a frequency up to 25 kHz for dc-motor control with lower noise. Operating with a microcontroller, the device controls two motors or up to three different loads. Specifying a high voltage capability up to 40V, it can also be used in 24V truck applications. The IC is a protected, triple half-bridge driver with integrated power stages and each of three integrated high-side and three low-side drivers are capable of delivering currents up to 1A. Reverse, brake, and high impedance operation modes are controllable via a SPI interface. Other features include over-temperature warning and shutdown, overload, over-voltage, and short-circuit protection. Samples are available now in lead-free QFN18 packages with pricing starting at $0.99 each/10,000. An application board is also available for $131. ATMEL CORP., San Jose, CA. (408) 441-0311.
