Inverted Modjacks Come With Light Pipes

Jan. 1, 2000

Inverted right-angle modular jacks (modjacks) with light pipes direct light from board-mounted LEDs to the front of the modjack to indicate system activity. This design uses light pipes and user-supplied SMT LEDs that reduces EMI/RFI noise by 50% compared with a modular jack with integral LEDs. The units also reduce replacement costs as there are no LEDs on the modjacks to fail, unlike traditional LED modjacks that must be replaced when the LEDs burn out. Modjacks with light pipes are well-suited for networking systems, multimedia set-top boxes, security systems, modems, mini-PCI applications and home office routers and hubs.
