Said to solve problems inherent in front panels with metal gasket designs, the Schroff CompactPCI/VME64X panel features a high-performance fabric gasket. The new front panel assembly is designed to IEEE1101.10 specifications and is designed to alleviate the mechanical tolerance build-up associated with multiple board installations and the subsequent distortion and degradation in attenuation that occurs with metal EMC gaskets. The fabric gasket is smooth, soft-edged and designed not to crack from repeated flexing. It is constructed of a non-woven, conductive, silver-plated fabric and a high-tack conductive adhesive. It has a polyether polyurethane, highly resilient, foam inner core. Shielding performance is 60 dB at frequencies of 30 MHz to 1 GHz, in accordance with Mil-Std-285. The assembly has been tested to 800,000 cycles with no reduction in surface resistivity.
