Peripheral Processor Slashes Component Counts

Oct. 1, 1998

Said to contain the functions of 16 components on one chip, the Atlas peripheral processor includes a processor interface that is compatible with TMS320C40, MC68020/40, PowerPC 601/603e, and SHARC 21060 processors. Atlas has a MIL-STD-1553 bus controller, remote terminal and bus monitor, as well as a memory decoder, five UARTs, a watchdog timer, an interrupt controller, 32 programmable I/Os, reset and configuration logic, and four 48-bit timers. The Atlas is designed to eliminate compatibility problems encountered when designs are attempted that integrate numerous components on one board. Also included are complete boundary scan test capability (IEEE 1149.1) and BIST.
