Cards Mate GPIB Products To Ethernet

Aug. 1, 2000

Engineers and scientists who want to use Ethernet and GPIB in the same test and measurement system now have two more options. The HS488 compliant products, GPIB-ENET/100 Ethernet-to-GPIB controller and the PCI-8212 combination GPIB and Ethernet interface for PCI, each offer interfaces for connecting, sharing, or controlling GPIB instruments on Ethernet networks. With the GPIB-ENET/100, users can easily access remote test equipment from anywhere in the world via TCP/IP protocols on 10BaseT and 100BaseT networks. The PCI-8212 interface combines a GPIB controller chip and a standard Ethernet controller chip, developed by Intel, in a single PCI board. The GPIB controller chip is capable of transfer rates up to 8 Mbytes/s. Both of these products are shipped with NI-488.2 and NI-VISA application program interface (API) software for Windows 2000/NT/9x and can run unmodified software programs previously written with these APIs. The GPIB-ENET/100 GPIB Ethernet controller is available now for $995. The PCI-8212 combo card is also available now for $595.
