The W6m dc/ac inverter employs a custom IC to provide a power source with closed-loop current control in a compact package with a 6-mm profile. Said to be efficient, the closed-loop current control provides a regulated output that maintains consistent lamp brightness, unaffected by variations in the input voltage and over a wide temperature range. Other features include open-lamp detection, an input voltage range from 8V to 18V, and on-board dimming with low EMI emission. The component targets battery-powered, single-lamp LCD backlight applications in a variety of markets including automotive, medical, and military. Price is less than $9 each in production quantities.
