Designed for HDMI and DVI applications, the MAX3814 TMDS digital-video equalizer and cable driver offers a selectable, 50%-higher output current to support the use of 200Ω back-termination resistors that absorb output reflections. Going the distance, its input provides 15 dB of signal-loss compensation for longer, 24 AWG cables measuring up to 20m in length or circuit-board traces up to 2m on FR4 circuit boards. Contrary to drivers requiring the separation of input/output connectors from the interface ICs, the MAX3814 sports a 5 mm x 5 mm footprint that allows placement directly at the HDMI or DVI interface. All four inputs and outputs behave identically, allowing flexibility in pin assignments. Available in a 32-pin TQFN package, prices start at $1.95 each/1,000.
