Kontron's latest COM Express Starterkit Type 6 kick starts development/evaluation of unique systems based on the latest COM Express pin-out Type 6 computer-on-modules (COMs). Type 6 COMs provide higher performance and energy efficiency plus native support for the latest display options, higher serial bandwidth, and interfaces such as USB 3.0. Components of kit assemble in minutes, reducing development time, and exploit the full feature set of current Intel and AMD processors. Kit contents include a COM Express Eval Type 6 carrier board in the ATX form factor with one PCI Express Graphics port, PCIe x4, two PCIe x1 slots, one miniPCIe, and 1x Express Card connector with USB. Graphics outputs include 2x Display Port, 1x VGA supply plus an FCC connector for LVDS. Other interfaces include 4x SATA ports, 4x USB 3.0 and 2x USB 2.0, 1x Ethernet, 3 in 1 audio out for HD-Audio, and two serial RX/TX ports. Additionally, the Starterkit Type 6 contains all necessary cables and accessories including a USB 3.0 stick. Samples are available now with production coming in August.
