Based on the compact Pico-ITX form factor, VIA Technologies’ VAB-1000 board features a high-performance graphics and video engine that’s optimized for more enriched multimedia capabilities and immersive user experience.

Based on the compact Pico-ITX form factor, VIA Technologies’ VAB-1000 board features a high-performance graphics and video engine that’s optimized for more enriched multimedia capabilities and immersive user experience. A SMART embedded toolkit (ETK) and full set of software customization services also are provided to leverage Android’s capabilities for embedded applications. A 1.0-GHz VIA Elite Cortex-A9 dual-core processor with a Unified Shader Architecture (featuring 64 stream processors) powers the 10- by 7.2-cm board. The architecture provides support for dual independent displays, smooth 3D/2D graphics acceleration, and full high-definition playback support for video formats up to 1080p. Back-panel I/O includes two HDMI connectors, one mini-USB 2.0 port, one MicroSD slot, one Gigabit Ethernet port, and one dc-in jack. Front-panel I/O includes one pin header for two additional USB ports, one pin header for SPI1 and 8-pin GPIO, one pin header for three I2C and two COM ports, and one pin header for front audio. It incorporates 4-Gbyte eMMC flash memory and 2-Gbyte DDR3 SDRAM, along with one dual-channel LVDS connector, one S-video pin header, and one Mini-PCIe connector.
