Integrating a PIN diode and a transimpedance amplifier, the AMT121302T46F device answers the call for a front end in 1300-nm fiber optic installations for Gigabit networks. The device offers high sensitivity and impressive overload performance, it's claimed, giving it the robustness to support current and emerging data communication systems, such as Gigabit Ethernet and Fibre Channel. The PIN-TIA device's high sensitivity allows increased signal transmission distances and improved reliability. Typical sensitivity is -25 dBm and gain is 2600V/W or more. The unit comes in a TO-46 flat windowed package and requires a 5V supply at 35 mA typical.
