A line of 5.7-in. TFT modules with QVGA (320-by-240) resolution include a sunlight-readable version that offers improved contrast, color saturation, and response time compared with CSTN products. To achieve sunlight readability, the company manufacturers the TFT cell using high-aperture panel technology, high transmittance color filters, and a unique anti-reflective polarizer scheme. The module (PDI-T320240SR-5.7) is illuminated with high-intensity white LEDs and delivers a typical brightness of 300 cd/m2. The unit’s contrast ratio is 400:1 and its response time is 15 ms. This model uses the HX8218A (source) and HX8615A (gate) drivers from Himax. The 5.7 QVGA line also includes a standard transmissive module with or without a touch screen. The transmissive module costs $62.50, the transmissive version with touch screen is $71.85, and the sunlight-readable module is $87.50 each, all in quantities of 1000.
