The immediate availability of the new engaze liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) technology may hold the key to affordable, high-quality large-screen TVs. A 1.18" diagonal single-panel with a resolution of 1,280 x 768, engaze holds potential for rear-projection applications such as large-screen TVs, home theater and cinema systems. It is said to have the picture quality essential for supporting existing signals and HDTV applications. In addition, this technology claims to deliver the superior text readability required for new services such as Internet TV, all within a thin form factor. The engaze solution also offers enhanced uniformity, brightness and contrast to enable a truer, color-rich image; up to 20V standard silicon technology; and a digital interface for a high level of system integration.
