By using a sophisticated luminous coating that absorbs light from any source and then emits the captured light over time, EcoBright backlighting does not require a constant power source for illumination, yet can be clearly seen in the dark with minimal activation. It is an inert luminescent material that gives off a highly visible light without the need for power.
Application areas include LCD displays that are read only occasionally or are used in remote locations. Among the specific products targeted by the zero-power backlighted LCDs are cameras, mobile communication products, and domestic power meters. EcoBright comes in three forms: powder for mixing, granules for molding, and wafer-thin waterproof adhesive sheets for LCD backlighting.
